2025 Charity of the Year: Project Waterfall

The Coffee Association of Canada is excited to announce that Project Waterfall has been selected as their Charity of the Year for 2025. More than 700 million people around the world don’t have access to clean water, with the majority living in isolated, rural areas – the same areas that grow coffee. While most of us enjoy the purest filtered water in our coffee, the communities at the beginning of the supply chain face a water crisis. Project Waterfall is working to address this disparity and tackle the global water crisis, with a specific focus on bringing clean water, sanitation and hygiene education to coffee growing communities.

“Water is a critical component for coffee from bean to cup. Project Waterfall is an exemplary choice for our Charity of the Year based on their efforts to provide clean water in coffee growing regions,” said Robert Carter, President, Coffee Association of Canada.

When a community gets access to clean water, everything starts to change—child mortality rates drop, women and girls get their lives back and dignity is restored in a community.
“Project Waterfall is delighted to have been chosen for such a prestigious award,” said Roxy Rocks-Engelman, Director, Project Waterfall. “It is heartening to know that members of the Coffee Association of Canada value the fundamental role that access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects plays in improving the health, inclusion and opportunities for coffee growing communities. We welcome Canadian coffee partners to join us in tacking the water crisis together.”

The CAC 2025 Charity of the Year Award will be presented at the CAC Conference on Wednesday, November 5th in Toronto.
